Attention applicants: please be aware that, according to your country of origin, you may be asked to add supporting documents at the end of your application, such as a CV, language certificate, etc. It is advisable to prepare such documents before starting the application as you will not be able to stop and resume the application process.
Study Visits
Study visits are organised in European courts, EU Institutions and Agencies and international organisations. The study visits are designed to familiarise the participants with the visited institution through theoretical sessions as well as more practical activities. They take place in either English or French.

Project-based exchanges
Project-based exchanges are the Exchange Programme activities that are organised following the submission of a project proposal by the applicant. These activities include:
- Bilateral exchanges, open to judges, prosecutors and court staff
- Regional exchanges, open to judges, prosecutors and court staff
- Judiciary learning grant programme, open to judges, prosecutors and judicial trainers
- EJTN-CEPOL joint exchanges, open to judges and prosecutors

Requirements and calendar for each hosting institution
STUDY VISIT WITH THE EUROPEAN UNION INSTITUTIONS
Presentation
The study visit will be organised with the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament, the European Anti-fraud Office (OLAF) and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS). The study visit is designed to provide beneficiaries with an insight into the EU law making process and the host institution’s functioning and procedures. The role of the EDPS and OLAF will also be explained.

COMBINED STUDY VISITS COURT OF JUSTICE OF THE EU/ EUROPEAN PUBLIC PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE
Presentation
The study visits will be organised at the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. The aim of these visits is to provide a first-hand insight into the visited institutions and their co-operation.
The study visit will focus on:
- A general introduction to CJEU and to EPPO
- The co-operation between the two institutions
- Participation in a Court hearing at CJEU
- A case study brought before the Court by EPPO

The study visits will be organised at the Court of Justice of the European Union. The aim of these visits is to provide a deeper knowledge on the powers, organisation and functioning of the Court.
The study visit will focus on:
- Presentations on the Court’s competencies, procedures, and case law
- Participation in a Court hearing

STUDY VISIT AT THE HAGUE CONFERENCE ON PRIVATE INTERNATIONAL LAW (HCCH)
Presentation
This visit aims at giving an insight to practitioners of the EU MS working about the main instruments of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (Conventions, Protocols and Principles) in the area of international family law. The visit will cover the Conventions on the civil aspects of international child abduction, the protection of children and cooperation in respect of intercountry adoption, the jurisdictions applicable law, recognition, enforcement, cooperation in respect or parental responsibility and measures for the protection of children, the international recovery of child support and other forms of family maintenance as well as the protocol on the law applicable to maintenance obligations. The visit will also provide for EU law perspective and relations between The Hague Conventional system and the EU law system.

Presentation
The study visits will be organised in collaboration with the European Court of Human Rights. The aim of these visits is to provide a deeper knowledge of the Court, its functioning and its case law.
The study visits includes:
- Presentations on the Court’s competencies, procedures, and case law
- Possibility to attend a hearing session (to be confirmed)
- Meeting with a Judge from the Court
- Presentation of the HELP Programme of the Council of Europe and the Commissioner for Human Rights
- Presentation of the European Ombudsman
- Visit to the European Parliament

STUDY VISIT WITH THE EUROPEAN UNION AGENCY FOR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS (FRA)
Presentation
The study visit will be organised with the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) in Vienna, Austria. It will be complemented by a visit at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The aim of the study visit is to introduce the participants to the work of the visited institutions in the judicial context. Among the topics tackled will be the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, FRA’s work in the area of Non-Discrimination, LGBTI, Access to Justice, Asylum and Migration, Hate Crime, the Rights of the Child and Data Protection.
